As Africa accelerates its digital transformation agenda and seeks resilient solutions to bridge connectivity, infrastructure and development gaps, Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) has announced the Africa Satellite and Space Summit 2026, a premier industry gathering that will take place on 16 November 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. The Summit comes at a pivotal moment, as satellite and space technologies become increasingly central to the continent’s economic growth, digital inclusion and long-term development.

Held under the theme “Empowering Africa’s Growth Through Satellite and Space Innovation,” the Summit will provide a dedicated platform for industry leaders, policymakers, investors, regulators and technology innovators to shape the future of Africa’s satellite and space ecosystem. More importantly, it will examine how these technologies can move beyond technical innovation to deliver practical solutions for governments, businesses and communities across the continent.

Across Africa, demand for reliable connectivity, resilient communications infrastructure, environmental intelligence and secure digital networks continues to grow. Satellite technologies are increasingly being recognised as essential for extending broadband access to underserved communities, supporting disaster preparedness, monitoring environmental change, strengthening broadcasting and telecommunications networks, and enabling new opportunities within Africa’s emerging space economy. The Summit has been designed to address these priorities by bringing together the stakeholders responsible for driving policy, investment, innovation and implementation.

The event will convene senior executives from satellite operators, telecommunications companies, broadcasters, space agencies, government institutions, research organisations, technology providers and investment firms to discuss the policies, partnerships and investments required to position Africa as an active contributor to the global space industry. More than half of the delegates are expected to be board-level executives, creating a unique environment for strategic dialogue and high-value collaboration.

Commenting on the announcement, Benjamin Pius, Chief Executive Officer of Broadcast Media Africa, said, “Satellite and space technologies are no longer future ambitions—they are becoming strategic assets for Africa’s economic resilience, digital transformation and sustainable development. The Africa Satellite and Space Summit 2026 has been established to bring together the leaders who are shaping this future, creating an important platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and investment that will help unlock the full potential of Africa’s space ecosystem.”

The Summit programme will feature keynote presentations, executive discussions and networking sessions covering satellite-enabled connectivity, resilient space infrastructure, investment in Africa’s space economy, cybersecurity, policy and regulatory frameworks, and the use of satellite technologies for environmental monitoring and sustainable development. By bringing together decision-makers from across the public and private sectors, the event aims to foster meaningful partnerships that accelerate innovation and strengthen Africa’s position in the global satellite and space landscape.

The Africa Satellite and Space Summit 2026 is expected to attract participants from around the world, reinforcing its role as an international platform for dialogue, collaboration and business development within one of the world’s fastest-growing technology sectors.
