Savanna Fibre Uganda has announced the launch of its new one gigabit per second (1 Gbps) fixed broadband service, marking a significant advancement in the country’s information and communication technology (ICT) landscape.
The company’s initiative aims to provide high-speed internet access to all sectors of Ugandan society, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and growth in the digital age.
This service is poised to create exciting opportunities across sectors such as business, education, fintech, digital media, remote work, cloud computing, and e-government. Savanna Fibre emphasises that this initiative goes beyond basic connectivity; it lays a robust foundation for the advancement of artificial intelligence, automation, advanced analytics, and other data-driven technologies that require reliable and ultra-fast internet.
Despite only starting to generate revenue two years ago, Savanna Fibre has experienced rapid expansion with a mission to deliver high-speed broadband that fosters inclusive economic growth and positions Uganda as a competitive player in the regional digital economy.
This launch aligns with the strategic goals outlined in Uganda’s regulatory communications framework, which underscores the need for next-generation broadband infrastructure to enhance innovation, service delivery, and national competitiveness.
“This launch represents much more than a technological achievement; it is a declaration of Uganda’s aspirations. At Savanna Fibre Uganda, we are committed to ensuring that high-speed internet is recognised as an essential productivity tool for all Ugandans. Our goal is to make broadband accessible to every individual, fueling innovation, entrepreneurship, learning, and opportunities across the country,” stated Alex Wanyoike, CEO of Savanna Fibre Uganda.
