As excitement builds in the Nigerian film industry ahead of the premiere of “AVANTE” on March 29, 2026, many are already heralding this project as a significant milestone in the evolution of African cinema.

Actor Kingsley Okafor, a key figure in the film, is taking the lead in welcoming fellow practitioners and enthusiasts from Nollywood to this highly anticipated event. He describes “AVANTE” as a reflection of the industry’s creative aspirations and rising standards.

Produced by AfriSQuare Entertainment, the film has received widespread acclaim for its ambitious vision and the dedication required to bring it to fruition. Okafor emphasised that undertaking a project of this scope necessitates not just technical expertise but also a deep belief in storytelling as a vital medium for cultural expression and impact.

“AVANTE” boasts an impressive cast led by Chimezie Imoh, whose acclaimed performance in “The Breath of Life” secured him recognition at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. Okafor himself delivers a compelling performance in the film, following his well-received role in “Marriage Stunts,” where he showcased his emotional depth.

The ensemble includes notable talents such as Patience Ujah, known for her roles in “Halita” and “Eagle Wings,” and Eddie Watson, celebrated for his role in “The Waiter.” Ruth Nkweti, recognised for her performance in “Living in Bondage: Breaking Free,” also enriches the cast, adding further cross-cultural appeal.

Renowned filmmaker Toka McBaror directs the film, whose portfolio includes impactful titles such as “Dark October,” “Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons,” “Kada River,” and “Lotanna.” His history of crafting compelling narratives ensures that “AVANTE” will likely leave a lasting impression on viewers.

With a narrative delving into themes of revenge, love, justice, and destiny, “AVANTE” promises an emotionally charged and thought-provoking cinematic experience. Observers have noted its strong storyline and execution, suggesting it has the potential to resonate deeply with audiences.

As the premiere date draws nearer, discussions around “AVANTE” intensify, with many viewing it as more than just another Nollywood release. For many, it signals the industry’s growing confidence and ambition to establish a more significant global presence.

Okafor is optimistic that the launch of “AVANTE” will not only engage audiences but also mark a transformative chapter for African filmmaking, highlighting the creative advancements being made by talents across the continent.
