Africa Magic has officially announced the opening of entries for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), in collaboration with MultiChoice, a Canal+ subsidiary. Filmmakers and content creators from across Africa can submit their works from Sunday, January 11, until Sunday, February 15, 2026, for this esteemed event celebrating excellence in film and television.
The AMVCA is MultiChoice’s flagship initiative, designed to honour, celebrate, and reward outstanding African storytelling. The upcoming edition aims to highlight the growth, creativity, and global impact of Africa’s entertainment industry, reinforcing the AMVCA’s status as the continent’s premier awards platform.
This year, the AMVCA will proudly feature Don Julio as the Lead Sponsor, marking an evolution in the awards toward a celebration of African excellence that is both premium and culturally significant. The 12th AMVCA will continue its legacy of honouring both established and emerging talents while introducing enhancements that broaden its pan-African reach. Notably, this edition introduces two new Indigenous Language categories:
- Best Indigenous Language – North Africa
- Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa
These additions underscore the AMVCA’s dedication to Pan-Africanism, cultural preservation, and diverse representation, ensuring a more comprehensive celebration of Africa’s rich languages, regions, and creative voices on an international stage.
The 12th AMVCA will comprise 32 categories, including 18 determined by a jury and 11 voted on by the audience, as well as two special awards: Lifetime Achievement and the Trailblazer Award. To be eligible, entries must have been broadcast or publicly screened between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Feature-length films must have been shown in cinemas, on traditional television, or on streaming platforms to qualify.
All entries need to be submitted online via the official AMVCA portal, with complete preview copies uploaded as they were screened or broadcast.
Renowned for celebrating African talent, iconic red-carpet moments, and cultural significance, the 12th AMVCA promises another memorable event honouring African film, television, and creative expression. The awards ceremony is set to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026, with more details to be revealed in the upcoming months.
