Netflix AFCON Daily Tournament Show – A First In Africa For The Streaming Platform

Netflix has debuted the AFCON Daily Show, a dynamic magazine-style series focused on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) taking place in Morocco. The show is hosted by the well-known South African media personality Minnie Dlamini, along with seasoned sportscaster Robert Marawa and football analyst Melissa Reddy. It provides a comprehensive look at the previous day’s matches, featuring highlights, expert insights, interviews, fan reactions, and real-time reports from tournament venues.

This daily program commenced airing on December 22, 2025, and will continue with fresh episodes each morning until January 19, 2026. It is available in English audio, supplemented with English and French subtitles, ensuring accessibility for a wide audience across Africa and beyond. Filmed in part from Rabat, the series aims to capture and recap the competition’s significant moments.

With the AFCON Daily Show, Netflix steps into the realm of daily sports highlights for the first time during a major African football tournament. Although the platform does not have the rights to stream live AFCON matches—those are held by broadcasters like SuperSport in sub-Saharan Africa (including South Africa) and beIN Sports in other regions—this venture underscores a significant move into sports-related content for Netflix in the area.

While Netflix has previously offered sports documentaries and series, this new daily format during a live tournament suggests growing interest in complementary sports programming. It gives fans an on-demand avenue to keep up with AFCON developments without relying on live broadcasts, aligning with Netflix’s flexible viewing model.

The show’s hosting trio is impressive: Dlamini is a leading South African presenter, Marawa is a renowned radio and TV sports broadcaster, and Reddy is an international journalist focused on top European leagues. Their participation highlights the show’s goal of merging entertainment with insightful football discussions.

The AFCON Daily Show is Netflix’s exclusive daily highlights program for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, hosted by Minnie Dlamini, Robert Marawa, and Melissa Reddy, with new episodes premiering daily from December 22, 2025, through January 19, 2026.
