Zambia and the Czech Republic are bolstering their collaboration across technology, innovation, and sustainable development.

This renewed partnership was highlighted at the recent Tech4Zambia Innovation Forum, where prominent stakeholders from both nations convened to reinforce their bilateral cooperation.

The event emphasised transforming innovative concepts into tangible results across various sectors, including agriculture, energy, healthcare, environmental protection, governance, and digital transformation.

Participants enjoyed insightful presentations and interactive discussions showcasing the partnership’s commitment to building local capacity, facilitating technological transfers, and fostering innovation-led economic growth.

Jiri Kyrian, the Czech Republic’s ambassador to Zambia, reiterated the significance of their cooperative efforts in innovation, agriculture, health, and environmental responsibility. He emphasised that technology transfer and the enhancement of local capacity are vital components of sustainable development.

Moreover, Kyrian highlighted the potential of utilising satellite technology, artificial intelligence, drones, and clean energy solutions to effectively address local challenges.

The ambassador also highlighted the importance of education and scholarships, committing to offering 20 to 25 Zambian students the chance to study annually at Czech universities.

Brilliant Habeenzu, Zambia’s Permanent Secretary for Technology and Science, praised the Czech-Zambian partnership as a valuable opportunity for co-creation and innovation.

“Stakeholders must engage meaningfully and openly to make Tech4Zambia a driving force for inclusive growth,” Habeenzu stated.
