Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe – The highly anticipated Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2025 will officially open today in Victoria Falls, bringing together the region’s leading broadcasters, policymakers, and media innovators for three days of thought leadership, collaboration, and transformation.

The event, hosted by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) in partnership with the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA) and Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), is set under the theme “Content, Connectivity, Collaboration – Transforming Africa’s Broadcast Media Landscape In The AI Era.”

Delegates will be immersed in conversations about how Africa’s broadcast and media industries can harness emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and cross-border collaboration to reshape the future of content creation and distribution.

The atmosphere at the venue is charged with energy as participants from across the continent arrive to exchange ideas and build networks for a more connected, inclusive, and digitally advanced media ecosystem.

A distinguished line-up of contributions from influential voices from across Africa and beyond will share insights and strategies for the next phase of broadcasting. The SABA 2025 convention is sponsored and supported by great organisations such as DW, France 24, TVU Networks, Sentech, Discover Digital, Workflow Labs, LAWO, and SES, Sputnik and RT — they all, in their very special way, contribute perspectives on innovation, infrastructure, and effective solutions to our evolving broadcast landscape in Africa.

Commenting on the start of this annual gathering of the most influential media professionals in Africa, Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, said: “The Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa is about more than dialogue; it’s about driving real transformation. As the industry navigates the era of artificial intelligence, we must ensure that Africa’s broadcasters not only adapt to new technologies but also lead the way in defining how they are used to tell our stories, connect our people, and empower our societies. This gathering in Victoria Falls demonstrates the spirit of unity and innovation that will define Africa’s broadcasting future.”

As the Convention gets underway, it highlights the shared commitment of Africa’s broadcasters to innovate, collaborate, and lead in a rapidly evolving digital and AI-driven landscape. The momentum continues to build toward the Broadcast Media Awards Gala Dinner — a black-tie celebration that will honour outstanding achievements across Africa’s broadcasting landscape.

With the exchange of ideas, formation of new alliances, and an inspiring line-up of experts, the Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2025 in Victoria Falls is setting the stage for the next chapter in Africa’s media evolution.
