Imagine Communications To Acquire Pixel Power – Expanding Its Live Production And Playout Portfolio

Imagine Communications has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Pixel Power Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz, in a move that strengthens its position in live production and playout solutions. The transaction, expected to close in 2025 pending regulatory approvals, marks a strategic alignment between the two companies and reflects a shared commitment to advancing IP- and cloud-based broadcast and streaming technologies.

Under the agreement, Imagine will integrate Pixel Power’s software-defined, deploy-anywhere platforms into its live production ecosystem, significantly enhancing its playout and workflow capabilities. The acquisition combines complementary technologies and deep engineering expertise, enabling broadcasters to benefit from a broader suite of integrated tools and greater flexibility in workflow design.

A key part of the deal includes Pixel Power’s PRISMON multiviewer, recognised for its advanced master control and cloud capabilities. This will bolster Imagine’s SNP Multiviewer platform, together forming one of the most comprehensive IP and IP-hybrid multiviewer portfolios in the industry.

Headquartered in Cambridge, England, Pixel Power has built a global reputation for excellence in broadcast graphics, playout, and monitoring systems. Imagine Communications plans to maintain the Cambridge facility and integrate Pixel Power’s engineering and customer support teams within its own global infrastructure. This approach ensures continued service and operational continuity for customers using PRISMON, Gallium, and StreamMaster platforms.

Commenting on the announcement, Thorsten Sauer, CEO of Pixel Power and VP Media Solutions at Rohde & Schwarz, said, “We are proud of Pixel Power’s achievements and confident that Imagine is the right home for its continued growth. This move enables Rohde & Schwarz to focus more deeply on our core operations while entrusting Pixel Power’s future to a company that shares our customer-centric values.”

John Mailhot, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Imagine Communications, added, “We’re thrilled to welcome the talented Pixel Power team to the Imagine family. This acquisition enhances our ability to deliver innovative, business-driving solutions and builds on the strong foundation developed under Rohde & Schwarz.”

James Gilbert, Deputy CEO of Pixel Power, noted, “This alignment creates exciting opportunities to scale innovation and deliver even more tailored solutions. Our customers will benefit from enhanced support and a stronger foundation for future workflow evolution.”

Both companies have emphasised a seamless and collaborative transition. Pixel Power customers and partners can expect the same high standards of service, now strengthened by Imagine Communications’ industry-leading resources and expertise.
