Health authorities in Uvira have initiated a new vaccination campaign against Mpox (monkeypox) following more than 2,000 reported cases and at least 10 fatalities since the outbreak began. The campaign targets healthcare workers, individuals in close contact with confirmed cases, and other residents deemed at risk.
The video report attached captures medical teams registering and vaccinating residents at temporary tents near the Uvira Health Zone headquarters. Scenes show healthcare workers administering doses and assisting community members in a well-organised effort to curb the spread of the disease.

Vaccination efforts began in early 2025 across the most affected provinces, including South Kivu, as infections rise amid limited access to healthcare and the challenges posed by ongoing regional conflicts.
