BMA’s [As Live] Report On Recent UN Security Council Session On Gaza Humanitarian Crisis Situation

The United Nations Security Council recently assembled to discuss worsening humanitarian circumstances in Gaza.

Top UN officials sounded the alarm on the increasing number of civilian casualties and becoming increasingly difficult to deliver aid to the affected people during the session.

This BMA reporting by Helena Ortega showed Mr Khaled Khiari, UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific, calling for greater adherence to international humanitarian law, warning that the situation on the ground continues to deteriorate, with severe implications for the region’s stability and civilian well-being.

Member state delegations from various nations in Africa also voiced fervent objection to the human cost of the conflict on civilians. Strong emphasis was placed on the compelling requirement of an immediate cease-fire, the safe passage of humanitarian aid, and the protection of essential services and infrastructure.

Reports from UN agencies indicate that aid workers and staff are operating under extreme conditions, with significant resource constraints. Calls for an immediate and sustained humanitarian response were echoed throughout the session.
