Shahid And Partners To Bring More Korean Dramas To MENA Region

CJ ENM, a prominent player in the Korean entertainment industry, has entered into a groundbreaking content partnership with Shahid, the largest Arabic-language streaming platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This collaboration marks CJ ENM’s first major venture into the MENA streaming market, enhancing its global expansion goals.

Beginning June 19, 20 premium Korean series from CJ ENM’s extensive catalogue will be available on Shahid, tapping into its vast regional audience. The lineup features beloved titles such as the romantic comedy “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” the psychological thriller “Mouse,” and the fantasy drama “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.” Other notable inclusions are “My Lovely Liar,” “Hotel Del Luna,” and the crime melodrama “Flower of Evil,” showcasing the diversity and appeal of K-dramas.

Sebastian Kim, VP of International Content Business at CJ ENM, emphasised the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality storytelling that resonates with global viewers. According to Kim, the growth of Korean dramas worldwide can be attributed to their cinematic quality and emotionally engaging narratives. This partnership with Shahid is a significant opportunity to introduce K-culture to a new audience.

As CJ ENM celebrates its 30th anniversary, this collaboration is part of a broader strategy to expand its international presence. Recently, the company secured a partnership with Mexico’s Imagen Televisión, further enhancing its global footprint.

Tarek Alibrahim, Shahid’s general manager of content, expressed enthusiasm for featuring CJ ENM’s titles, stating that the partnership will bring exceptional storytelling to viewers in the MENA region. This collaboration signifies a promising new chapter for K-content in the Arabic-speaking market.
