Vodacom Group has announced Mohamed Abdallah’s appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom’s International Markets and Vodafone Egypt. The strategic appointment is a milestone in Vodacom’s ongoing attempt to consolidate its business, enhance growth, and enhance customer satisfaction in line with its Vision 2030 goals.

Vodafone Egypt’s CEO Abdallah will oversee Vodacom’s international markets, including operations in Tanzania, Mozambique, Lesotho, and DRC, under a single leadership to drive growth and strategic initiatives.

The company further explained that Vodacom CEOs in Tanzania, Mozambique, Lesotho, and DRC will report to Abdallah directly, who will still report back to Vodacom Group CEO Shameel Joosub.

Announcing the appointment, Joosub indicated Mohamed has a strong track record of delivering major commercial performance. His leadership would be key as Vodacom expands its international presence and delivers its purpose-led strategy across the continent.

“We are confident that under Mohamed’s leadership, our International Markets will flourish and continue to deliver outstanding performance. I would also like to thank Diego for his valuable contributions over the past seven years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Abdallah joined Vodafone Egypt in 1998 and has held several senior roles, including Enterprise Business Director and Consumer Business Director.
As CEO of Vodafone Egypt, Abdallah has overseen robust growth in consumer, business, and financial services businesses, further solidifying the company’s strong market position.
In taking over this international markets role, Abdallah succeeds Diego Gutierrez, who departed at the end of April after working for seven years as Chief Officer of International Business.

On his new appointment, Abdallah said, “It is a great honour to take up this role. I am deeply committed to leading connectivity and innovation to empower African people and businesses.”
Vodafone Group is uniquely placed to assist in shaping the continent’s digital future. With the outstanding teams within Vodacom Group, we will strive to build a digitally inclusive future that serves communities and delivers socio-economic progress for Africa.
