The Kenya Tourism Board has unveiled a new campaign, “A Journey Through the Wild Heart of East Africa,” produced by the award-winning BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions. This multimedia initiative showcases Kenya’s stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife through the eyes of seasoned travel photographer Jack Swynnerton.

Launched on May 20, the campaign features Swynnerton’s adventure divided into three chapters: Land, Water, and Air. His journey begins in the heart of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, where he explores the vast savannah, encounters majestic wildlife such as lions, and engages with the welcoming Samburu community.

The adventure continues in the skies, with a hot air balloon safari offering breathtaking landscape views at dawn. Swynnerton then embarks on a light aircraft journey to a remote elephant sanctuary and hikes the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya, capturing moments of tranquillity on Africa’s second-highest mountain.

The final chapter highlights Kenya’s stunning coastal and aquatic environments. In Watamu on the Swahili coast, he explores mangrove forests while paddleboarding enjoys kitesurfing in the Indian Ocean, and experiences traditional sailing on a dhow.

June Chepkemei, CEO of the Kenya Tourism Board, emphasises the campaign’s role in diversifying tourism offerings. It aims to position Kenya as a premier destination for adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts. Jihane Rassasse, VP of Content Partnerships at BBC Studios, praises the project’s visual storytelling, highlighting Kenya’s unique adventure tourism opportunities.

The campaign is now live on BBC.com and across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. It engages audiences with photography reels and behind-the-scenes content. Through this initiative, BBC Studios continues strengthening its commitment to creative storytelling while showcasing Kenya’s vibrant tourism potential.
