The Africa Film Society has recently opened its Library, Theater, and Exhibition Space in East Legon, Ghana. The official announcement highlighted the presence of industry legends such as Kwaw Ansah, King Ampaw, David Dontoh, Fred Amugi, and Akofa Edjeani at the launch event.

The film library contains a curated collection of books, films, and vinyl soundtracks, catering to both filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts. Additionally, the 50-seat Arthouse Theater will host screenings of classic and contemporary films as part of the long-running program ‘Classics In the Park’.

Founded by Ghanaian filmmaker Blitz Bazawule, the Africa Film Society is celebrating its 8th year of preserving and promoting Africa’s cinematic heritage, nurturing new filmmakers, and cultivating audiences for their work.

The society’s ‘Classics In The Park’ initiative aims to provide free outdoor cinema experiences, focusing on early African films from 1950 to 1980. Their goal is to acquire, restore, and distribute these films to introduce them to a new generation of viewers.
