CANAL+ is excited to announce its broadcasting rights for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will air live on SuperSport throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
Set to take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026, in Glasgow, Scotland, this prestigious event will be accessible to Access customers via DStv, DStv Stream, GOtv, and GOtv Stream. In South Africa, SuperSport channels are provided by CANAL+ Africa to MultiChoice (Pty) LTD, which delivers the DStv service to its subscribers.
With over 500 African athletes anticipated to participate, the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games is shaping up to be a highly anticipated event. SuperSport will ensure world-class broadcasting across 11 thrilling days of competition.
To deliver extensive coverage, SuperSport will offer two dedicated channels showcasing the Commonwealth Games, focusing on both prominent athletes and a special feed highlighting Africa’s medal contenders. Additional events will be accessible on extra channels, both on linear TV and through streaming. Moreover, a third dedicated channel will prominently feature Mozambican athletes on SuperSport Maximo 2 and 3.

Nigeria is fielding one of the strongest teams in the championship, marked by the presence of former world record holder Tobi Amusan, Commonwealth long jump champion Ese Brume, and top weightlifters Rafiatu Lawal and Adijat Olarinoye, along with continental shot put champion Chukwuebuka Enekwechi. Ghana will rely on its sprinting talent, featuring athletes like Benjamin Azamati and high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, while elite boxers from Portuguese-speaking nations aim for glory, alongside Cape Verdean hurdler Jordin Andrade.
Among the Francophone nations, renowned athletics figures like Soufiane El Bakkali and Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith lead an exceptional group, including Senegal’s Louis François Mendy.
South African supporters are eagerly awaiting the return of swimming icon Chad le Clos, aiming to extend his impressive Commonwealth medal tally. The country’s exciting athletics team features sprint star Akani Simbine, world champion swimmer Pieter Coetzé, and promising talent like Jo-Anè van Dyk.
