The Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has introduced an innovative AI-driven Digital Video Library and Artificial Intelligence Engine, signalling a significant advancement in transforming years of broadcast content into an intelligent, easily searchable digital archive.
The official launch took place during a visit by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC), at the Authority’s headquarters.
This initiative was realised through a strategic collaboration between the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and White Peaks Solutions SAS (WPS), which acted as the technology partner for the project. Together, the two organisations developed the SBA Library alongside a specialised AI engine, creating a cohesive ecosystem for managing extensive broadcast archives.
The SBA Library is a next-generation digital archiving solution designed to transform traditional media collections into a centralised and searchable resource. Its user-friendly interface, reminiscent of popular e-commerce platforms, allows users to effortlessly search for, preview, and license video content produced or owned by the Authority.
This system aims to streamline access to thousands of archived assets, enabling producers, publishers, and other users to quickly find and retrieve the content they need.
To safeguard intellectual property, all archived materials are protected with digital rights management (DRM) and initially offered as low-resolution, watermarked previews. Users can request high-quality versions through various licensing options, including multiple bitrate formats and content packages tailored to different production and distribution requirements.
Enhancing the digital library is a unique AI-powered engine developed specifically for broadcasters and media organisations. This system automates the management, enrichment, and retrieval of media assets by generating metadata, transcripts, translations, content recognition, and other AI-driven features, while ensuring that all data remains securely hosted within SBA’s infrastructure without external exposure.
The Authority indicates that this launch marks more than just the digitisation of an archive. The new platform creates a comprehensive media ecosystem that integrates secure archiving, intelligent content discovery, AI-powered content enrichment, and content monetisation within a unified workflow, facilitating more efficient management and commercial use of broadcast assets.
