Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), the convener of the OTT Content Streaming Summit – Africa, is proud to announce that the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will serve as the Official Host Broadcaster for the 6th annual Summit.

The prestigious event, set to take place from Tuesday, 24 February, to Wednesday, 25 February 2026, in Cape Town, South Africa, will convene regional and global leaders to address the theme: “Streaming Futures: Unlocking Reach, Relevance and Revenue Across The Continent.”

Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), emphasised the strategic importance of the collaboration. “The SABC’s decision to serve as our Official Host significantly elevates the Summit’s mission. As a national public broadcaster successfully navigating the digital shift with platforms like SABC+, they are uniquely positioned to anchor our critical discussions on content accessibility, regulatory futures, and audience retention across the African continent. This partnership is vital to building a sustainable and inclusive streaming economy.”

As the Host, the SABC—South Africa’s leading public service media organisation—will facilitate key discussions leveraging its vast experience in media innovation and commitment to universal content access. The Summit will delve into critical industry challenges, including the rise of high subscriber churn, the impact of evolving digital content policies and tax regimes, and the essential role of authentic African storytelling in global streaming competition.

Lungile Binza, SABC COO, expressed the significance of the partnership: “Hosting the OTT Content Streaming Summit 2026 is a powerful validation of the SABC’s commitment to digital transformation and our mandate of universal access. This platform allows us to drive meaningful conversations around content localisation, innovation, and, critically, how we ensure sustainable and inclusive streaming for all South Africans and the entire continent.”

Attendees can expect a dynamic agenda featuring executive keynotes, policy roundtables, and case studies from leading global and African digital media firms, focusing on infrastructure advancements, flexible monetisation models (such as AVOD and FAST channels), and regulatory frameworks.

BMA invites all industry participants, investors, and policymakers to join this pivotal event shaping Africa’s streaming future HERE.
