The highly anticipated Egyptian feature film “Darwish” is scheduled to premiere in theatres on July 17, 2025.

Helmed by director Waleed El Halfawy and written by screenwriter Wissam Sabry, this film masterfully combines action and comedy, all set in the vibrant 1940s Cairo.

“Darwish” follows the intriguing story of a clever con artist who becomes entangled in a murder accusation that he did not commit. This wrongful accusation sparks a series of events that thrust him into the limelight.

As the narrative progresses, the character grapples with newfound fame, rekindles an old rivalry with a former partner, and explores the beginnings of a blossoming romance, all while he strives to prove his innocence.

Leading the cast is Amr Youssef, joined by a talented ensemble that includes Dina El Sherbiny, Tara Emad, Mohamed Shahin, and Moustafa Gharieb. Together, they craft a dynamic and engaging storyline that is filled with humour, suspense, and the charm of a bygone era.

“Darwish” is the product of a collaboration between One to One, Film Clinic, Vox Studios, and Film Square. This release is particularly noteworthy, as it will be available simultaneously in theatres across the Arab world, marking a landmark addition to the region’s film offerings in 2025.
