Journalist Report Interview. New Broadcasting Reporter. Journalism And Press

In a strategic move poised to reshape how African stories are told and shared, pan-African broadcaster News Central and global news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) have announced discussions to forge a powerful media alliance.

At a meeting in Lagos, Nigeria, the two laid out a shared vision to marry AFP’s worldwide reporting heft with News Central’s historic regional penetration and aggressive reporting ethos.

On the proposed alliance, News Central’s Managing Director, Mr. Kayode Akintemi, described it as a forward-thinking step toward creating a new benchmark in African journalism. He said, “Combining our strengths uniquely positions us to tell deeper, richer stories that matter—both within Africa and globally.”

Both organisations agreed to establish a joint task force to outline actionable collaboration areas. The priorities are co-producing multimedia content, sharing news feeds, and launching capacity-building programmes to enhance editorial skills across borders.

With mutual optimism and a commitment to impact-driven reporting, News Central and AFP appear ready to reshape the future of African media—one story at a time.
