Egypt’s NTRA Approves $675 Million 5G Licenses for Major Telecom Operators.

Great news for Egypt’s telecom landscape! All four major telecom operators in the country have officially received their 5G licenses from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA). On Monday, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, shared that the combined value of these licenses awarded to Vodafone Egypt, Orange, and E& Egypt amounts to $675 million. This licensing agreement follows similar terms established earlier this year when we signed their license.

Minister Talaat emphasized the government’s dedication to leveraging technological advancements to benefit all citizens. He noted that the rollout of 5G marks a significant milestone, enhancing various services, including voice communications, and benefiting key sectors like smart cities, logistics, agriculture, and healthcare.

With this second batch of 5G licenses, Egypt has yet to formally introduce 5G services. These services will feature a wide range of applications in healthcare and agriculture, aligning with the nation’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development. The country will introduce 5G technology to revolutionize the digital landscape, drive growth across multiple sectors, and contribute to its economic development. Over time, 5G will work alongside and eventually replace the current 4G network.
