The Netflix original series “Òlòtūré: The Journey,” a spinoff from the 2019 film by Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife Studios, garnered significant attention with 1.7 million views and 3.2 million hours of watch time during the week of July 1 to 7, 2024, propelling it to the top 10 global chart on the streaming platform.

Sharing this achievement on Instagram on July 10, 2024, Abudu announced, “Òlòtūré: The Journey made it to the official Netflix top ten global chart based on our first week of viewership from July 1st to July 7th, 2024. We are number 6 on the global charts with 1,700,000 views and 3,200,000 hours watched.”

Directed by Kenneth Gyang, the thrilling series follows the journey of an undercover journalist navigating a dangerous sex trafficking ring. Starring Sharon Ooja Nwoke as Oloture, the series premiered on Netflix on June 28, 2024. Abudu also expressed her excitement about the series’ global success, stating, “It’s absolutely awesome to see the NIGERIAN TV SERIES getting into the global charts! We entered the Netflix Official Top Ten Global Charts with our SERIES, Blood Sisters. We are doing it again right here with Oloture: The Journey.”

Abudu, known for her significant contributions to the industry, began with the talk show “Moments with Mo” in 2006 and later established EbonyLife Films, which produced the renowned movies “The Wedding Party,” “Royal Hibiscus Hotel,” and “Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman.” The series “Òlòtūré: The Journey” also features Omoni Oboli, Beverley Osu, Daniel Etim, Stan Nze, Bukola Oladipupo, and other talented actors.
