Forging Future Frontiers: Insights And Collaborations From Day One Of Africa’s 4th Annual OTT Summit

Industry executives gathering at the ongoing 4th Annual OTT Streaming Platforms And Content Management Summit – Africa 2024 ended Day One of the event, imploring for deeper stakeholder collaboration in the wake of the convergence of platforms and systems that have upended the traditional and usual way of doing business in the broadcast and media space.

Day One of the industry summit, being convened by this platform (BMA) and the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association (SABA), opened to great purpose when the convener, Mr Benjamin Pius, set the tone to the proceedings with some instructive points arising from the report on the industry survey conducted by BMA on the “State Of OTT and VoD Business In Africa”.

Several leading partners in the industry delivered keynote talks. Sweet.TV addressed how beneficial the “Sweet.TV Franchise” can be for African broadcasters and content publishers. Discover Digital enamoured the audience with a beautiful presentation entitled: “Your OTT Catalyst”. SABC+ discussed the need to respond to audiences’ consumption patterns in an ever-changing media landscape.

In addition to the keynotes, several illuminating discussions by panels of experts and professionals looked at opportunities and solutions for African broadcasters in the OTT space going forward and innovative options for content discovery, delivery and effective management in the digital spaces.

Commenting on the proceedings and outcome of the first day of the Summit, the event operations lead at BMA, Ms Nonku Mhkize, said: It is always humbling to be in meeting rooms packed with senior leadership of our industry and to see them in full networking and ideas-sharing mode make our job a fulfilling one.
