Africa’s largest telecoms company – MTN Group – has pledged to invest US$215 million in infrastructure in Benin Republic over the next three years.

The investment includes constructing a new office for its subsidiary, MTN Benin Republic. The company sees significant potential in Benin and is committed to supporting its development.

This announcement was made during a visit by an MTN Group leadership delegation to Cotonou, where they met with President Patrice Talon. The President praised the MTN delegation for their commitment and expressed interest in future collaboration as MTN Benin celebrates its 25th anniversary.

The delegation was led by MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita and included MTN Benin Chairman Amadou Raimi, Senior Vice President for Markets Ebenezer Asante, MTN Benin CEO Uche Ofodile, and MTN Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer Nompilo Morafo.

Mupita said that MTN is committed to being a force for good in its markets, providing Africans hope, dignity, and opportunity. He also mentioned that the company has trialled 5G services in Benin and sees opportunities for further progress. MTN is committed to developing and upskilling Beninese youth and wants to partner with the government and other stakeholders.

MTN’s investment in Benin is a positive step towards improving connectivity and supporting the country’s growth and development.
