BBC UKTV Reaches 12.9m Viewers In Africa

BBC Studios has recently announced that it has expanded its partnership with MultiChoice, launching BBC UKTV on DStv’s compact package and BBC Lifestyle on DStv Family. The channel has seen remarkable growth since its debut in December 2022, with over 12.9 million viewers in Africa, a surge of 135% in viewership and a 99% increase in channel share across all demographics.

BBC UKTV offers a diverse range of programming that caters to audiences of all ages, including lifestyle shows like 10 Years Younger, popular soaps like Eastenders and Casualty, entertainment shows like Total Wipeout: Freddie & Paddy Takeover, dramas like The Mallorca Files and Call the Midwife, and engaging factual series such as Life Below Zero.

The channel has consistently captured the attention of viewers with its carefully curated schedule, featuring popular shows like Secrets of the Supercars, Come Dine With Me, Bake-Off Crème de la Crème, The Musketeers, and The Great South African Bake-Off. Pierre Cloete, Commercial Director at BBC Studios in Africa, expressed his pride in the channel’s success and commitment to its future. He stated that BBC UKTV was crafted to match families’ viewing habits in Africa and give more people access to high-quality shows.
