Kunle Afolayan, a renowned filmmaker in Nollywood, recently unveiled the official poster for his upcoming Netflix series, “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre”. The series is a spinoff of the original Netflix film Anikulapo, which was a huge success globally, ranking number 1 on Netflix and winning multiple awards.

The film features returning cast members such as Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, Ogogo Taiwo Hassan, and Eyiyemi Afolayan, alongside new faces like Lateef Adedimeji, Uzee Usman, Gabriel Afolayan, and Owo Ogunde. The four-part Netflix original is set to drop later this year.

“Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre” follows the story of Saro, a traditional textile weaver who arrived in Oyo as a stranger. He falls in love with Queen Arolake, who is unhappily married to the king, and they run away together. Saro soon becomes a man of influence after being saved by a mysterious bird, but his betrayal tears apart their love.

The series will feature an extensive team of over 600 cast and crew members, including Adebayo Salami, Layi Wasabi, Moji Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, Ronke Oshodi, Jide Kosoko, Adeniyi Johnson, and Funky Mallam.

It was created by KAP Motion Pictures in partnership with Golden Effects Pictures and wrapped up principal photography in July 2023.
