Uganda’s “Bobi Wine: The People’s President” Nominate For Best Documentary Feature Film At The 2024 Oscars

A Ugandan documentary by Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has been nominated for the best documentary feature film at the 2024 Oscars. The documentary, titled ‘Bobi Wine: The People’s President,’ will be competing with four other documentaries, including the Tunisian documentary ‘Four Daughters.’

Bobi Wine expressed his gratitude for the nomination, saying that it was a humbling moment for him to see the Ugandan story being recognised at the most prestigious film awards in the world. He added that the fight for democracy in Uganda and around the world continues, and he thanked everyone for their recognition of his work.

It should be noted that Bobi Wine lost to President Museveni in the 2021 presidential elections. Allegations of vote manipulation led to countrywide protests by opposition supporters, with human rights groups claiming that security forces killed dozens and arrested thousands of protestors during the election period.
