Known Associates in South Africa and Tulinane Entertainment in Namibia have joined forces with Moonlighting Films Namibia to establish the Namibian Film Fund (NFF). The NFF’s goal is to provide financial support to filmmakers and strengthen Namibia’s burgeoning film industry.

Specific information about eligibility criteria, application processes, and fund allocation timelines is currently being finalized and will be shared with filmmakers in the coming months.

The Namibian Film Fund aims to offer financial support and resources to filmmakers at all stages of their careers. It is envisioned as a vital economic anchor for the Namibian film industry, intended to help alleviate some of the significant financial challenges that filmmakers in the country face.

Tshepiso Chikapa-Phiri, CEO of Known Associates, expressed the company’s excitement in supporting the emerging talent within the Namibian film industry.

Once operational, the Namibian Film Fund will provide essential financial resources and support to filmmakers, enabling them to bring their creative visions to life and share Namibia’s unique narratives with the world.

Moonlighting Films Namibia, in partnership with Moonlighting Films and Tulinane Entertainment, is bringing over 30 years of experience in the film production industry to support this initiative.

Obed Emvula of Tulinane Entertainment conveyed the company’s enthusiasm for collaborating with Known Associates and their esteemed partners, emphasizing the NFF’s potential for empowering local filmmakers and shedding light on Namibia’s incredible stories.

Florence Haifene, head of the Namibian Film Commission (NFC), highlighted the perpetual funding challenge in Namibia and expressed her excitement in unlocking talent, fostering collaborations, and bringing scripts to life.

The Namibia Film Fund has also received endorsement and advocacy from the NFC for its potential to empower Namibian filmmakers and amplify cultural narratives globally. The initiative is seen as a commitment to showcasing Namibia’s rich heritage and diverse talent.
