Télévision Togolaise and Radio Lomé have moved ten administrative services onto Togo’s national e-government portal, service-public.gouv.tg, in a development that brings elements of their commercial and public-facing operations into the country’s digital government infrastructure.
The services went live on 28 September as part of the government’s broader digitalisation programme, launched in November 2025.
Of particular interest to the broadcast and media industry are three services: requests to broadcast death notices, applications for media coverage of events, and orders for advertising campaigns.
The move effectively shifts the intake of these services from traditional broadcaster-facing channels to a government-operated online platform, making requests available digitally and around the clock.
For Télévision Togolaise and Radio Lomé, the inclusion of advertising campaign orders is particularly notable. It places an element of the broadcasters’ commercial airtime sales process alongside other public-sector services on the national portal.
The development also raises questions about how commercial broadcasting services will be presented and understood by prospective advertisers when accessed through a government platform.
The ministry has positioned the initiative within Togo’s wider state digitalisation drive. However, several operational details have yet to be made public, including the applicable advertising tariffs, any transition deadline for existing channels of intake and the complete list of all ten services being migrated.
The move reflects a broader shift towards digital access to public-sector services, while also highlighting the practical challenge for public broadcasters of maintaining a clear distinction between government administration and commercially sold media services.
