The Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2026 has officially announced Avani+ Barbarons, Mahé, Seychelles, as the venue for the upcoming regional gathering of broadcasters, media executives, content leaders, technology providers and policymakers.
Hosted by SBC (Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation) and convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) in partnership with the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA), the convention will bring together key stakeholders from across the region and beyond for strategic discussions on the transformation of broadcasting in an increasingly digital, connected and technology-driven media environment.
Set against the backdrop of Mahé, Seychelles, the Avani+ Barbarons will provide a distinctive setting for industry leaders to connect, exchange ideas and explore practical strategies for navigating the next phase of broadcast and media development.
The convention will focus on the critical issues shaping the future of the sector, including the transition from traditional broadcasting to digital and hybrid media ecosystems, the adoption of artificial intelligence, cloud and IP-based technologies, audience measurement and monetisation, content distribution, streaming, cybersecurity, regulatory developments and the evolving role of broadcasters in a rapidly changing media landscape.
Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, said selecting Seychelles as the host destination adds a valuable dimension to the 2026 convention.
“The Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa has always been about bringing the region’s broadcasting community together to have meaningful conversations about the future of our industry. Hosting the 2026 edition in Seychelles provides an exciting opportunity to broaden that conversation, strengthen regional collaboration and connect broadcasters with new ideas, technologies and opportunities.”
He added that the partnership between BMA, SABA and SBC reflects the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges facing African broadcasters.
“The broadcasting industry is undergoing profound change. From AI and cloud technologies to streaming, audience fragmentation and new commercial models, broadcasters need to adapt while continuing to deliver trusted, relevant and sustainable content. This convention will provide a platform for the industry to discuss these challenges openly and identify practical pathways forward.”
As host broadcaster, SBC will play a central role in welcoming the regional broadcasting community to Seychelles and supporting the convention’s programme of industry engagement, knowledge exchange and networking.
The Avani+ Barbarons, Mahé offers an environment designed to support both the formal conference programme and informal engagement between delegates, speakers, partners and exhibitors.
The 2026 convention is expected to attract senior representatives from public and commercial broadcasters, radio and television networks, media organisations, regulators, technology companies, satellite and distribution platforms, streaming services, content producers and other stakeholders across Southern Africa and the wider African media ecosystem.
