wedotv Expands Into India Through Samsung TV Plus Partnership

FAST channel operator wedotv has expanded its international footprint with the launch of its free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels in India through a strategic partnership with Samsung TV Plus. The move strengthens the company’s presence across Asia and reinforces its strategy of targeting high-growth connected TV (CTV) markets.

Under the pact, Samsung Smart TV (SVGA) users in India will get four dedicated wedotv channels: wedotv Big Stories, developed in collaboration with BIG Media; wedotv Cars, developed in collaboration with Motorvision; wedotv Movies and wedotv Sports. In addition to free streaming, the channels will provide viewers with a blend of factual entertainment, automotive content, feature films, and sports programming, further enriching the platform’s free streaming offering.

Iza Piotrowska, Senior Vice President of Global Business Development at wedotv, commented on the launch as a whole new step in the company’s internationalisation journey.

“The launch of our FAST channels on Samsung TV Plus in India marks an important step in wedotv’s international expansion and our continued investment in high-growth markets. India represents a dynamic and rapidly evolving streaming market, and this partnership allows us to bring curated, globally relevant content to a highly engaged audience,” she said.

Samsung TV Plus also highlighted the importance of expanding its content portfolio in one of the world’s fastest-growing streaming markets.

Kunal Mehta, General Manager and Head of Business Development for Samsung TV Plus India, said the addition of wedotv’s channels strengthens the platform’s commitment to delivering premium, free-to-access entertainment.

“India is an important growth market for Samsung TV Plus, and we’re committed to building a compelling TV viewing experience by partnering with leading content providers. Adding wedotv’s portfolio broadens the range of premium international channels available on the service and reinforces our strategy of delivering high-quality, free streaming content to Samsung TV users across the country,” he said.

The India launch will make wedotv available in 13 international markets, including India. It’s in line with the company’s recent expansion into Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, continuing its strong global FAST distribution network expansion.
