
MTN Group has officially appointed Jerry Soko as the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Eswatini, with his new role commencing on July 1, 2026.
This key appointment comes as part of a series of leadership changes announced in the first half of the year, reflecting MTN’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its leadership capabilities while implementing its Ambition 2030 strategy.
With over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications sector across Africa, Jerry is a distinguished executive and qualified accountant. He has served as the Acting CEO of MTN Eswatini for the past seven months, during which he has successfully stabilised the company and prepared it for sustainable growth. Under his guidance, MTN Eswatini has strengthened its market position and built trust with its stakeholders.
He has focused on an organisational agenda that emphasises network competitiveness, improves customer experience, and ensures disciplined execution. Jerry has prioritised network resilience and reliability, fostering a customer-centric culture throughout the organisation.
Additionally, Jerry has enhanced operational efficiency and cash management and nurtured strategic partnerships that align with Eswatini’s broader digital development goals.
A strong proponent of organisational culture and talent development, Jerry has established a high-performance workplace built on accountability, agility, and collaboration, with a focus on leadership development and succession planning.
Jerry’s comprehensive experience within the MTN ecosystem includes senior roles as CEO and CFO in Zambia, South Sudan, Botswana, and Rwanda. He also holds several non-executive board positions.
As MTN transitions from primarily a connectivity provider to a platform-driven company, maintaining leadership continuity and capability is essential to achieving its strategic objectives in connectivity, fintech, and digital infrastructure.
