The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), a leading pan-African institution focused on film and television training, has announced that applications are now open for its 2026 program. This initiative provides aspiring filmmakers from across Africa with a fully funded opportunity to enter the rapidly growing film and television sector.
The intensive nine-month program specifically targets African graduates eager to pursue careers in directing, filmmaking, scriptwriting, producing, and storytelling. Participants will develop the necessary skills to narrate genuine African tales for both local and global audiences. Those interested can apply online until February 27.
This program arrives at a pivotal moment as the demand for African-led content increases globally. MTF is positioned as a vital source for nurturing talented creatives who can satisfy industry demands while elevating African narratives on international stages.
With its recent integration into CANAL+, MultiChoice has reiterated its dedication to creating impactful African content by investing in emerging filmmakers through practical training and mentorship.
According to a statement from MultiChoice Zimbabwe, the program employs a hybrid learning approach that blends interactive online education with in-person training sessions.
“The 2026 curriculum is thoughtfully crafted to combine theoretical learning with hands-on experience. Throughout the program, participants will not only refine their craft with guidance from industry experts but also gain insights into the filmmaking business,” the statement mentioned.
MTF operates academies in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, providing aspiring filmmakers from 14 African nations with essential training, industry exposure, and access to valuable professional networks to succeed in the competitive entertainment arena.
As part of their training, students will produce their own film projects, which will subsequently air on DStv and GOtv channels, including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic, and Africa Magic, as well as on the streaming service Showmax.
Since its inception in 2018, MTF has empowered 296 filmmakers, resulting in over 42 films created by its graduates.
“Post-graduation, our alumni enjoy high success rates. Many find employment within the MultiChoice network, contributing to major African productions. The MTF accreditation makes our graduates highly desirable, with numerous alumni even launching their own production companies. To date, over 50 new ventures have been established by MTF alumni,” MultiChoice Zimbabwe highlighted.
The program champions a hyperlocal content strategy, enabling Africans to share their narratives, an approach that continues to receive worldwide acclaim.
