Babeleye, a leading provider of content metadata solutions, is excited to announce the extension of its strategic partnership with Eutelsat, a prominent player in the satellite operations industry. This renewed collaboration reinforces Babeleye’s role as the metadata provider for Sat.tv, Eutelsat’s flagship Free-to-Air satellite TV service available across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The Sat.tv service aims to deliver millions of households a high-quality, user-friendly satellite TV experience. It relies on rich, structured, and localised metadata to enhance its Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and content discovery functionalities. Since the launch of Sat.tv, Babeleye has played a crucial role in supplying high-quality metadata in various languages, facilitating seamless navigation and boosting viewer engagement.

With this partnership renewal, Babeleye is thrilled to announce that its metadata is also available in DVB-I and HbbTV formats, supporting the Connected TV version of Sat.tv. This advancement ensures a future-ready content discovery experience across traditional and IP-based platforms, expanding Sat.tv’s accessibility to smart TVs and hybrid devices.

“We are proud that Eutelsat continues to trust Babeleye,” stated Hamid Ouddane, CEO of Babeleye. “Our goal has always been to make quality content accessible across different markets. By integrating DVB-I and HbbTV and enhancing our metadata capabilities, we are making significant strides in assisting Eutelsat in making Sat.tv more user-friendly and adaptable.”

Eutelsat’s decision to renew and extend this partnership stems from Babeleye’s ability to effectively map diverse datasets to optimise content discovery across various regions and platforms. Babeleye’s proven expertise in localising metadata with cultural sensitivity and its commitment to providing scalable, real-time updates for hundreds of channels have been instrumental. Adding DVB-I metadata support also enhances compatibility with Connected TVs and hybrid set-top boxes, aiding Eutelsat in broadening its offerings within the digital broadcasting arena.

“Babeleye’s flexibility and technological advancements have enabled us to provide a consistent, high-quality experience for millions of Sat.tv users,” said Jean Luc Deroudilhe, SVP Advanced TV Services at Eutelsat. “Their support remains central to our strategy for enhancing digital TV access across our markets.”

This continued partnership highlights both companies’ dedication to innovation, accessibility, and digital inclusion, particularly in underserved regions. With new technologies and advanced metadata mapping, Sat.tv is set to become a standard for modern satellite television services in emerging markets.
