The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced that since the relaunch of SABC+ on July 3, 2024, the streaming platform has attracted over 500,000 users.

This achievement, reached in just three months and fifteen days, demonstrates the positive reception of the revamped SABC+ platform, which is now available on Apple TV (TVOS), Apple CarPlay, and Google TV/Android Box.

The platform offers catch-up services, Video on Demand (VOD), and live streaming of all 19 SABC radio stations to better serve its audience.

The success can also be attributed to focused marketing efforts and live events such as the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the AFCON 2023/2024 tournament, the Miss South Africa pageant, and popular programs like S3’s B’Dazzled, featuring media personality Bonang Matheba.

Themba Gwejela, Group Executive for Corporate Affairs and Marketing at SABC, expressed satisfaction with the rapid growth of SABC+, emphasising the commitment to providing engaging content to the streaming audience.

Additionally, SABC is eager to establish valuable partnerships with clients and trade partners, solidifying SABC+ as a prominent platform in the broadcasting landscape.
