SABC Plus Achieves Milestone With One Million Users

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced that its Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming platform, SABC Plus, has reached an impressive milestone of one million registered users since its relaunch in July 2024. This growth has been significantly fueled by the platform’s live sports broadcasts, which have consistently attracted over 60,000 new registrations for each major sporting event.

The launch of the #SwitchToStream campaign, which aims to educate viewers on the accessibility and convenience of SABC Plus across various devices, has also played a pivotal role in this growth.

“We are excited to witness the rapid adoption of SABC Plus as a go-to digital platform for the content our audiences cherish. The overwhelming response to our live sports coverage, lifestyle programming, and high-profile events like the Metro FM Music Awards underscores our dedication to providing engaging and relevant content that can be accessed anytime, anywhere,” said Khanyisa Melwa, SABC’s digital marketing manager.

SABC Plus provides users access to a wide array of content, including SABC’s 19 radio stations, the television channels SABC 1, SABC 2, and S3, a 24-hour news channel, and the SABC Sports channel, all conveniently available on one platform.
