Warner Bros. Discovery To Launch Max Streaming Service In Turkey On April 15

According to industry reports, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is set to launch its premium streaming service Max in Turkey on April 15, replacing the local platform BluTV as part of a major rebranding effort.

With this transition, WBD aims to expand its investment in Turkish content, introducing new original productions to the platform in the coming months. The revamped service will merge BluTV’s local presence with an extensive global catalogue featuring HBO and Max Originals, Turkish series, and content from Eurosport, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, CNN International and Discovery+.

Turkey marks the 77th territory for Max, furthering WBD’s global expansion. With a population exceeding that of Germany, the UK, or France, the Turkish market represents a major opportunity to attract millions of new subscribers. Max now boasts 116.9m subscribers worldwide, following a 6.4m increase in Q4 2024.

The second season of the Turkish hit series Magarsus, which is a Succession-type show set in the world of the citrus fruit business, premieres this Thursday on BluTV, with upcoming episodes released weekly. “The season’s final two episodes of the BluTV original will then land exclusively on Max” on April 17 and 24, the firm said. “Signaling the upcoming transition of this beloved drama from BluTV to a new home on Max, a Magarsus family portrait commissioned by celebrated Turkish artist Ethem Onur Bilgiç was seen being collected by removal men after a Magarsus screening in Istanbul today.”

Jamie Cooke, General Manager CEE, MENA and Türkiye at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “Max is the streaming home of Warner Bros. Discovery and offers subscribers an incredible breadth and depth of culture-defining entertainment from our services, networks and studios, all in one place.

“Türkiye is a key market as we take Max globally, and we’re thrilled to make it available to everyone in the country on April 15. By combining the best of BluTV’s content with the global content from Max and its enhanced global platform, we’re improving the user experience and offering the subscribers much more to choose from. This marks a significant and exciting milestone in fully integrating BluTV into Warner Bros. Discovery’s global portfolio.”
