NBCUniversal has started the production of Dating #NoFilter South Africa at the Mall of Africa in Johannesburg. The local adaptation, set to air on E! (DStv 124) later this year, features a panel of comedians providing humorous commentary on footage from various blind dates set up by the producers.

Produced by Brainstorm Entertainment, Dating #NoFilter South Africa will consist of 10 hour-long episodes. This localized format follows successful ventures like How Do I Look SA and Celebrity Game Night, signalling NBCUniversal’s commitment to delivering captivating content tailored to African audiences.

The South African version will showcase the comedic talents of Jason Goliath, Hope Mhbele, Lebogang Tlokana, Carpo More, Jo-Anne Reyneke, Margo Fargo, Nina Hastie, Okay Wasabi, Robby Collins, Rosette Ncwana, Sentle Andile, Skits by Sphe, Skyf Your Loss, Tumi the Narrator, and Zille Wizzy.

Hendrik McDermott, NBCUniversal’s managing director for networks and international direct-to-consumer in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, emphasized the company’s dedication to delivering content that resonates with African viewers. In a statement, he remarked, “Building on the success of E! Africa’s local adaptation of Celebrity Game Night, this production underscores our focus on delivering content that resonates with African viewers–in this case, uniquely showcasing some of South Africa’s wittiest personalities.”

Ana Langenberg, senior vice president for format sales and production at NBCUniversalFormats, expressed enthusiasm for the international appeal of Dating #NoFilter, stating, “Viewers love watching their favourite comedians offer side-splitting commentary while love seekers navigate the hilarious and unpredictable world of dating. I can’t wait to see South African audiences be swept off their feet by what promises to be a sensational new series.”
