The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, became the nucleus of cutting-edge discussions and innovative revelations during the recently concluded Broadcast And Digital Media Convention – East Africa 2024. Hosted by habeshaview and convened by Broadcast Media Africa, the two-day event, held on the 7th and 8th of May 2024, witnessed an amalgamation of industry pioneers, tech enthusiasts, and media moguls, marking a significant stride towards shaping the future of the media landscape in the region.

The convention kicked off with a vibrant atmosphere as delegates and participants immersed themselves in riveting keynote sessions and panel discussions. The theme of embracing transformation resonated throughout the event, emphasising the imperative need for adaptation and innovation in an ever-evolving media ecosystem.

Key Highlights:

Diversity took centre stage as industry leaders emphasised the importance of inclusive content creation and representation, reflecting the rich tapestry of East African cultures and narratives.

2. Sustainable Practices:

A dedicated segment focused on sustainability underscored the industry’s responsibility towards environmental conservation and eco-friendly practices, prompting discussions on reducing carbon footprint and adopting green technologies.

3. Monetisation Strategies:

4. Regulatory Landscape:

Regulatory challenges and opportunities were explored, with stakeholders deliberating on policy frameworks that would foster an environment conducive to media innovation while ensuring ethical standards and consumer protection.

4. Fostering Collaboration:

One of the convention’s hallmarks was its emphasis on collaboration and partnerships to drive industry growth and innovation. Networking sessions, workshops, and interactive exhibits provided a fertile ground for forging new alliances, sharing best practices, and catalysing synergies across various sectors of the media landscape.
