Customisation And Personalisation Is What Radio Should Be About – The Takeaways From Day 2 At The Radio And Digital Sound Broadcasting Summit

The second day of the Radio and Digital Sound Broadcasting Summit, held on 19 June 2024 at The Venue, Green Park, in Johannesburg, South Africa, was a remarkable experience filled with insightful discussions and groundbreaking ideas. 

The day was enriched by the enlightening presentations and discussion sessions led by Maritsa Wessel from Mediamark. Her presentation on change management for broadcast organisations was particularly insightful and undoubtedly inspired delegates to rethink their strategies and systems thinking. 

Another key highlight was Spotify’s presentation, which examined its collaboration with broadcasters and content publishers in the podcast space. The presentation illuminated the transformative power of streaming services in modern broadcasting. Spotify’s insights into its strategies for engaging audiences and using data analytics to drive content personalisation were particularly enlightening.

Reflecting on the event, Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, the event organiser, emphasised the impact of the knowledge and inspiration gained from the radio event on the industry. He said, “The insights shared by our speakers on both days have equipped us with new tools and perspectives to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of radio and digital sound broadcasting. We look forward to the continued discussions and exchanges of ideas in the coming days of the summit.
