BBC Children’s and Education have announced a partnership with Alphablocks and Blue Zoo Animation Studio to create a new era of educational entertainment for CBeebies viewers.

This collaboration will bring new episodes of the popular Blocks brand programming over the next five years. The partnership between Blue Zoo Animation Studio and Alphablocks Ltd. represents a significant step forward in children’s educational programming.

This agreement will give viewers more engaging and entertaining shows to captivate a new generation of young minds. The deal ensures that CBeebies will have access to fresh episodes of the beloved shows until 2027, providing high-quality, entertaining, and educational content for families for years to come.

The Blocks brands are used in over 90% of primary schools, and the UK curriculum has adapted to accommodate the new skills of Blocks-literate children. Kate Morton, Senior Head of Children’s Commissioning for CBeebies, believes that engaging and entertaining educational animation is the heart of CBeebies that keeps audiences coming back for more. She sees this deal as a significant investment in high-quality, home-grown content that preschoolers love.

Oli Hyatt MBE, Co-founder of Blue Zoo Animation Studio, said they are thrilled to partner with the BBC and continue working creatively with Commissioning Executive Joel Wilenius to expand the Blocks brand programming on CBeebies. He added that their mission has always been to create content that entertains, educates, and inspires young minds. They are excited to expand their digital and consumer product offerings, hoping to help work towards this wider goal.

Joe Elliot, Creator of Alphablocks and Numberblocks, is excited to see their flagship Blocks programs continue to evolve and deliver even greater educational impact. They look forward to entering the next chapter of the Blocks Universe story and introducing new characters soon. Blue Zoo Animation Studio, Alphablocks Ltd., and BBC are committed to making this partnership a resounding success and a source of joy and learning for children across the nation.

Joel Wilenius, BBC’s commissioning executive for the content deal, believes this partnership is the first of its kind for CBeebies and marks BBC Children’s and Education’s commitment to investing in engaging and entertaining content to educate future generations.
